The institute is a faculty-led initiative developed over the past several years. We set out to exploit synergies between the curiosity-based investigation of fundamental biological mechanisms and the early-stage identification and validation of molecular therapeutic targets. Our goal is to leverage the strengths of our intensive and collaborative research environment.
The institute was launched in May 2016 as an NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence, with a $12.5M award from the NIH and strong institutional support from Dartmouth College. In addition to funding for four junior faculty research projects, BioMT also supports advanced scientific resources for cross-campus use, faculty and student mentoring, an annual symposium, and a weekly seminar series.
